Who We Are

We are a group of talented and experienced physicians, scientists, and engineers who are driven by the conviction that there is a better way to address the issue of heavy bleeding in women and are compelled by the model that inventing physician Jim Presthus has proposed.

Jim Presthus, MD, a gynecologist based in Minneapolis, had the creativity to look at the problem of AUB in a different way. He was able to draw from his experience in treating patients whose periods had already stopped and apply that knowledge and thinking in proposing a way to treat women who desired to stop their periods. Impres has diligently explored Jim’s idea, investing years in animal and human research and countless hours in literature review, and has come to better understand this phenomenon.

We are calling what we see "deactivation" of the endometrium, and our initial product is being developed around this novel and completely natural reflex mechanism. The body appears to be able to trigger this pathway in response to very specific conditions and safely and completely turn off the menstrual period. We expect the Impres procedure to be a minimally invasive and consistent activator of this mechanism.
